CROWDS of families revelled in festive fun as the annual Saltney Mayor’s Parade arrived in town.

Schools, churches, businesses and community leaders all joined forces to ensure this year’s parade on Monday – the fourth to be held in the town since it was launched in 2009 – was the biggest and best yet.

Amid the backdrop of newly-installed Christmas lights on High Street lampposts, the celebrations saw children cheering on the parade from the roadside as Father Christmas was among the VIP guests.

Cllr Richard Lloyd, one of the volunteer marshals at the event, said: “It was a good turnout, it’s getting bigger every year and the weather was kind to us again.

“The businesses were supportive – Allied Bakeries deserve thanks and Morrisons donated raffle vouchers.”
