A warning has been sent out after a bogus caller targeted homes in Saltney.

Police are urging people to be vigilant after a man called at houses on St David’s Terrace purporting to be from Flintshire County Council, saying he needed to carry out a survey relating to cavity wall insulation.

He requested access to properties to visit bathrooms and kitchens, but a resident reported the incident to police just after 9.30am yesterday (May 25).

However, enquiries revealed that Flintshire County Council does not have anyone in the area carrying out this type of survey or work.

Police say that the man was driving a white BMW.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: “We received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the St David’s Terrace area at 9.37am.

“The man, driving a white BMW, who claimed to be from Flintshire council was offering residents cavity wall insulation.

“But Trading Standards have confirmed that nobody from the council is doing that type of work in that area today.

“We urge residents not to let anybody into their house without checking they have proper identification.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting reference number U075379.
