HUNDREDS of people attended the first of a series of rural touring clinics in Malpas last month.

The clinic, which provides help and support to vulnerable residents over the age of 55 in Cheshire’s rural areas, is jointly organised by Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT), Cheshire West and Chester council and the NHS.

Residents turned out in their droves to the Jubilee Hall, where advice and information was available, from members of the CDHT support team including resident involvement, property options, ChesterCare and GOSH (Group for Older People Living in Sheltered Housing).

They also found out more about topics including health walks, dental health, healthy eating and cooking within a budget, and falls prevention.

Allison Lowry-Phillips, CDHT housing support manager, said the event was a ‘great success’.

“This event brought together more than 30 local organisations covering health advice and information for older people,” she added.

“Many local people attended on the day and we have had a huge amount of positive feedback which will provide further support towards rolling these events out to other areas of rural Cheshire.

“This was a great example of local partnerships working together across Cheshire to enable greater awareness for older people of what health and well-being advice and services are available to them and how they can access them within their local area.”
