STAFF and users at the Mulberry Centre on Sealand Road in Chester staged a royal wedding ceremony.

Bride Samantha Cartwright walked down the aisle to join groom Gerrard Prendergast.

Guests enjoyed the service in the sunshine among the bunting and Union Jack flags.

The ceremony was followed by a reception – street party style – with fish and chips, a slice of wedding cake and a disco.

Dave Redpath, Mulberry Centre service supervisor, said: “As part of their dance, drama and arts learning, they have been looking into weddings and visiting churches. Users of the centre came up with their own piece of drama to celebrate it in their own way.

“Everyone was really excited about the day and it was a day to remember.”

Key roles were: Bride – Samantha Cartwright; Groom – Gerrard Prendergast; Bridesmaid – Faye McHugh; Vicar – Ian Stewart; Queen – Jan Hutchinson; Duke of Edinburgh – Stephen Taylor; Prince Charles – Ray Francis; Prince Harry – James Gray.
