Christmas fans, your chance to be a helpful elf is here.

The Royal Mail is looking for Christmas workers at its Chester depot to help deal with the festive rush to the postbox.

Temporary jobs are being advertised for mail sorting centres all across the country, starting at various points from mid-November through to mid-December and a variety of different shifts are on offer.

Working environments for the mail centre jobs are described as fast-paced - and the advert points out that a mail centre could process more than a million items in a shift.

Tasks include unloading mail from vans, moving large amounts of mail around in trolleys, sorting parcels and letters manually and operating machinery.

Royal Mail says there may also be opportunities for employment after Christmas.

If you’re looking for a permanent job in Liverpool, Royal Mail is also advertising for part time postmen and women in south Liverpool.

Workers will start their day in their local delivery office, sorting the mail for their route, before joining a colleague in a shared van.

The advert says applicants should be “upbeat and self-motivated” and happy to work alone and as part of a team.

You must also be happy to be outdoors whatever the weather – and as there is walking involved, enjoy a job that keeps you fit.
