Chester Rotarians have celebrated the founding of the city club more than 90 years ago.

The Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Jill Houlbrook, joined more than 120 Rotarians from Chester and surrounding clubs and guests gathered at the Town Hall to celebrate the Founding Charter of the Chester Club.

President Brian Price traced the history of the international Rotary to Chicago where it originated in 1905 to foster friendship and service to others and help make the world a better place for those not so privileged.

Rotary is now established in some 200 countries and knows no international boundaries.

Mr Price said he was particularly proud of the Chester Club and their activities which this last year had enabled them to donate almost £20,000 to local and international causes including ShelterBoxes for the Philippines and Syrian disaster appeals.
