STUDENTS at West Cheshire College teamed up with Manchester United star Wayne Rooney to raise funds for teenagers suffering from cancer.

Full-time sports student Charlie Mollay joined fellow students alongside the Manchester United and England striker on his visit to a Cheshire hospice to help the college promote its new charity calendar for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Students designed the calendar to reflect the different vocational elements of the college.

A Wayne Rooney-signed copy of the calendar will now be put up for auction, with raffle tickets on sale at the college to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Unsigned copies of the calendars can also be bought from all college campus receptions, with all profit being donated to the charity.

The college already has a good track record of supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust, with assistant principal Ian Rimmington raising £2,000 following a charity climb of Kilimanjaro in February.

Assistant principal Ian Rimmington said: 'The college has been supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust for some time now and is very proud to be supporting the launch of the new teenage unit.'
