WIDNES crooner Johnnie Rocco is having one more shot at the big time.

Johnnie, 66, pictured, of the Knights Choir, has worked in the industry all his life and now he has set his sights on another appearance on television as part of X-Factor 2007 and Simon Cowell's spin-off show, Britain's Got Talent.

The Widnes singer has also predicted a return to Halton Stadium to perform for Vikings fans next season as part of his build up.

Johnnie said: 'I'm going to have another go at these talent shows. I got on the show before and I can do it again.

'Shows like the X-Factor have made older singers more popular and I think it could happen with me.'

Johnnie was selected by producers to 'warm the crowd up' and 'breathe some life' into the dull atmosphere at the auditions in Manchester and he recalls his rendition of classic Nessun Dorma which was featured on the show.

He added: 'The crowd was so nervous they asked me to give a bit of a song. I did just that and it went down a storm.

'I just didn't know why they did not put me in front of Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh as they would have been impressed.'

Britain's Got Talent is appealing for all entertainers, sing-ers, comedians and groups to get in touch and Johnnie thinks he has what it takes to impress after touching the hearts of pensioners at Christmas parties throughout Widnes.

Johnnie added: 'I have been making a few people laugh and putting the cheer back into Christmas - I had them in stitches with my act.'
