Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at the Neston branch of NatWest yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, December 10).

Police were called to the bank at The Cross at 4.37pm.

Three men with Merseyside accents wearing dark clothing and masks gained access to the bank through the roof and then forced their way through a door.

The offenders shouted at the staff and took cash tills containing a substantial amount of money.

A black Peugeot 308 was later found abandoned and on fire in Mayfield Gardens.

DS Rob Grantham said: "Thankfully none of the staff was injured and the bank was closed at the time, so there were no customers.

"I would like to reassure residents that we are working on a number of lines of enquiry.

"This is similar to a bank raid in Neston last November so we are looking at the possibility they are linked. I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity to contact police so that we can find those responsible and bring them to justice."

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire police on 101 quoting incident number 621 of December 10, 2014.
