A PETROLHEAD from Chester has managed to get his six-litre V8 Ford to play an integral part in a Hollywood blockbuster.

Rob Lim, of Saltney, took his car down to Millbrook Test track in Bedfordshire to record the throaty roar of his souped- up V8 engine.

The mighty blast will feature as part of the soundtrack for Doomsday, the apocalyptic thriller by Neil Marshall, whose previous work includes horror film The Descent.

Rob said: “There’s a sequence the cars crash into each other and ram down through the gears then off the road.

“In the film it’s a Jaguar covered in the skins of all the victims killed in the film – it’s very Mad Max – but it’s my car you’ll hear.

“The testing ground there was also being used by Rolls Royce and Aston Martin but they had to wait until we had finished.”

For the role, he tweaked the exhaust so it replicated almost exactly the noise generated in the Mad Max movies.

Doomsday stars Bob Hoskins and is coming soon to cinemas.
