Roadworks outside Chester Racecourse which caused delays getting in and out of the city centre have been cleared.

The National Grid had put traffic lights in place on New Crane Street on Friday afternoon (November 20).

Motorists reported delays trying to get out of Chester by Sealand Road and also down Nuns Road.

The lights were taken away with rush hour approaching allowing congestion to ease.

Initially National Grid had said work to fix a sunken valve cover would continue until November 24, but it was completed ahead of time.

Elsewhere in Chester, the traffic lights at the Hoole Way Roundabout are currently switched off for work on the Gorse Stacks bus exchange.
