Chris Hulse, Joint Race Organiser of the MBNA Chester Marathon said: “Safety of our runners is our key priority, which is why we run the event on entirely closed roads. The roads around the route are expected to be more congested than normal and we ask those that are using the highways to take extra care during this once-a-year event. We recognise that this may cause some short-lived inconvenience, but we hope that local residents will enjoy the spectacle and help support those running the marathon to raise funds for good causes.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank residents living on and around the route for their continued support”.
