Ever wondered where motorists are most likely to be slapped with a parking ticket in Cheshire West and Chester?

Under the Freedom of Information Act, The Chronicle asked Cheshire West and Chester Council to reveal the 20 locations where its parking enforcement officers handed out the most penalty charge notices in 2015.

Laying claim to the number one spot is Ellesmere Port's Town Centre Car Park, next to Asda, the Port Arcades and the market, with a whopping 2,547 notices dished out there last year.

Trailing behind in second place is Market Car Park in Northwich, then Trinity Street Car Park in Chester comes in third.

While Chester may not have scooped the dubious honour, it certainly appeared more than any other Cheshire West location, with 15 of its car parks and streets making it into the top 20.

The council says parking enforcement helps residents and visitors by improving road safety, easing congestion and reducing the abuse of disabled parking by ensuring spaces are available for genuine Blue Badge holders.
