A revamp at Broughton Shopping Park has reduced the visibility of coffee giant Costa.

The popular shopping park has undergone a major refurbishment to its shop fronts over the last year.

But now park bosses at Broughton Unit Trust are unhappy because it says the changes to the Costa sign have affected the coffee chain's visibility on the park.

They now want a more prominent sign erected.

In a statement supporting their planning request, they said: "Prior to the commencement of these works, the Costa unit was identified via a prominent advertisement, which was situated above the canopy

"However, following the refurbishment of the shopping park, the above fascia sign was removed – adversely impacting upon the commercial visibility of the Costa unit, which is ‘hidden away’ at a corner location within the Shopping Park.

"Clearly the visibility of the Costa unit within the shopping park is severely impinged, a situation which will only worsen following the construction of the approved canopy.

"The Costa unit is an important ‘key attractor’ within the Shopping Park and its sustained presence is vital to the continued success of the park – hence the current proposal."

Costa want a sign erected above the planned new canopy to ensure shoppers will know where they are.
