QUEEN’S Park High School will be rocking to the sound of one of the UK’s top rock bands next week.

Students will present the musical We Will Rock You, based on hit songs by Queen.

Matt Yeoman, head of recreational and performing arts, said: “We came up with the idea in July and took students to London to see the West End performance of the show.

“One of the stars, Garry Lake, took us on a backstage tour and our two lead actors got the chance to perform on the stage.”

The musical is set 300 years in the future. Live music is banned and the Globalsoft Corporation, headed by the Killer Queen, dictates what computer-generated music people can listen to.

Student Alex Keirl plays Galileo, with Eleanor Robertson as his leading lady Scaramouche.

Mr Yeoman added: “Ricardo Afonso, the lead in the West End, told Alex and Eleanor how good they were.”

One lucky musician at the school, Tommy Hall, will get to play a guitar donated by Brian May for the production.

We Will Rock You will be staged from Tuesday to Friday at 7pm. Tickets, £6, are available from the school.
