Girls at The Queen’s Lower School are delighted at the prospect of the school competing for the second year in a row in the televised Songs of Praise Junior School Choir of the Year competition.

The 40 girls are thrilled to have been picked to appear in the televised semi-finals in spring. This will be the second year that the Young Voices choir has made it to the televised rounds of the competition. Last year they lost out to Ysgol lol Morganwg school after a superb performance of Make me a Channel of your Peace.

This year the live, televised performances will take place at the Albert hall, Nottingham in March.

Lower school choirmaster Margaret Corlett explained what it means for the girls and staff at Queen’s.

She said: “Last year was a wonderful surprise and we were very excited just to be part of it all. This year we as teachers know what to expect but it will still be all new for the girls, many of whom were in the training choir last year and have just moved up to Young Voices.

“We will practising very hard until the recording date and are hoping to make our performance pitch-perfect and full of energy and enthusiasm.”
