ASPIRING athletes in Helsby have achieved a high level coaching netball award after weeks of intensive training.

Girls from Helsby High School endured five weeks of training to gain the netball leaders’ award to teach younger pupils to play the sport.

The 11-15-year-olds learnt how to umpire and coach netball sessions as well as gaining the skills to organise their own tournaments.

The students took part in the training with the aim of being able to set up netball sessions with local primary schools in the future.

Head of Girls PE Miss Clarke said: “I am really proud of the effort, enthusiasm and commitment the girls have shown.Š

“They are a credit to the school and will be a valuable asset in forging links with our partner primary schools.”
