ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour and parking problems in a Chester suburb are hot topics up for discussion at a public meeting next week.

Several cars had their paintwork damaged by a knife on a recent weekend in Hoole which is bound to be raised at the meeting taking place at St Werburgh and St Columba's Catholic Primary School, in Lightfoot Street, at 7pm on Monday.

Meanwhile, the issue of noisy, drunken behaviour by revellers leaving the pub is an ongoing source of complaint.

And car parking problems in Faulkner Street, Charles Street and the shoppers’ car park remains an unsolved conundrum.

Police, community safety wardens and officials from the council’s highways, parking enforcement and licensing teams will be attending the meeting organised by Hoole and Newton councillors Adrian Walmsley and Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr John Ebo.

Cllr Walmsley said: “There was a serious incident two or three weekends ago when a lot of cars were targeted in Faulkner Street and surrounding area with a knife running down the body work. There have been a lot of complaints from residents. The police recommended we have this public meeting.”

Cllr Walmsley said solving the parking problem would be difficult.

“Every solution creates another problem. If we put a time-limit on, where do residents park and the people who work in the shops?” he said. “So this will be a listening meeting and we hope residents can come up with some solutions themselves.”
