A GOLF club is allowed to continue using a temporary marquee as long as no music is played inside.

Pryors Hayes Golf Club in Oscroft, Tarvin, has been granted retrospective planning permission to have the marquee for three years.

The facility has been in use since February last year when the club’s plans for a festival garden and gazebo were given the go-ahead back in 2010.

However the marquee, which has been used for weddings and parties, was not approved so a retrospective application had to be submitted.

Residents, Tarvin Parish Council members and Cheshire West and Chester councillors Hugo Deynem and John Leather had all raised concerns about the noise coming from the marquee when music was being played.

As a result the club wrote to the planning department at Cheshire West and Chester Council confirming music would no longer be played inside the marquee if permission was granted.

Case officer Lyndsay Ainsworth said: “It is considered that the structure is of a temporary nature and is not suitable as a permanent feature in the open countryside.

“A three year temporary planning permission would allow sufficient time for planning permission to be obtained for a more appropriate permanent addition to the premises.

“Subject to the proposed noise condition there would be no unacceptable detriment to the visual amenity of the rural character of the area, neighbour amenities or highway safety.”

Planning permission for the temporary marquee runs out on January 31, 2015.
