Abbey Gate College once again held its annual speech day and prize-giving ceremony at Chester Racecourse.

Pupils, parents, staff, governors and invited guests celebrated the range of academic and personal achievements of pupils and were inspired by the guest speaker, motivational speaker Lily Newman.

During the prize-giving the college presented a cheque of more than £17,000 to Karen Johnson from the GEM Appeal, which funds research into genetic disorders, the college’s nominated charity for the past year. Staff raised money by being sponsored in the Chester Half Marathon and pupils, staff and parents helped to raise the significant sum during a number of events.
