THE Princess Royal will officially open the Chester and Ellesmere Port Divisional Police Headquarters on Monday.

She will arrive at 2.10pm, receiving a tour of the building, including the operational crime area, training facilities, Crime Scene Investigation and CID briefing rooms, before officially opening it.

Police Authority chairman Peter Nurse said: 'We are pleased to see the culmination of this project. Staff have settled in well and, despite the upheaval of moving, the division is performing well. We are delighted that the Princess Royal has agreed to officially open the building.'

There will be no road closures on the day. However, there will be waiting restrictions in Blacon Avenue in the area of the headquarters and the area of the crematorium.

The helpdesk will be closed at the HQ from 11pm on Sunday until 4pm on Monday. Members of the public can attend the Blacon old police station in Melbourne Road. The helpdesk at Chester Town Hall will remain open as usual, and all telephone numbers remain the same.

Staff have relocated to the building from several sites accommodating personnel involved in supporting frontline policing in Chester and Ellesmere Port. Personnel have transferred from Ellesmere Port, Mickle Trafford and Neston, joining the majority of staff transferring from the old headquarters in Nuns Road, Chester.
