THE Duke of Edinburgh visited the headquarters of the UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), to open its new communications centre.
Prince Philip, BASC’s patron, opened the new Duke of Edinburgh Building at Marford Mill, Rossett, and met staff, guests, council members and their families.
His Royal Highness unveiled a commemorative plaque, toured the communications centre and was served a lunch of venison stew prepared by restaurateur, broadcaster and BASC council member Mike Robinson. Staff, guests, council members and their families enjoyed the same meal.
BASC’s political, press, publications, fundraising, policy, membership and marketing, design and web teams are based in the new centre. The centre features a state of the art editing suite and television facilities, radio booth and design studio.
BASC chief executive John Swift, said: “BASC is delighted The Duke of Edinburgh has agreed his name can be used for the new centre which provides BASC with the latest communications technology for the promotion of sporting shooting in the 21st century."
