Pupils of Saighton CE Primary School are intending to channel their inner Scorsese and make a film about what life was like at the Saighton Military Training Camp during the Second World War.

Children from across the school are hoping to interview people who were based at the camp.

Developer Redrow, which is building homes on part of the site, approached the school for ideas on how they could work together.

Teacher Ben Crompton said: “We felt that to make a film would benefit the school through increased awareness of IT skills involved in the project and of the history in our local area.

“We are looking for local residents who remember Saighton Camp when it was an army camp or anyone who was stationed on the camp from 1938 onwards.

“The children are hoping to make a short film about the life of Saighton Camp and would like to interview anyone with first hand knowledge.”

Mr Crompton added that pupils have studied the First World War and are currently engaged in a project on the English Civil War which focuses on the Battle of Chester.
