A festival celebrating  Chester’s lesbian, gay,  bisexual and transgender  community will take place in  Chester in October.

The Pride event, on October 5, will be opened by X Factor  finalist Chris Maloney.

There will be a main stage  at the Town Hall Square  with music and  entertainment for all from 2pm until 6.30pm featuring  local and celebrity acts,  along with an outside  market place and local  artists.

Inside the Town Hall will  be a lifestyle area featuring  stalls from the public,  voluntary sector and  community groups.

The celebrations will  continue into the evening  with Pride after-parties in the  LA Bar, Rosies, B6T9, The Old  Queen’s Head, The Victoria  and The Commercial.

Chester Pride is being  organised by partnership  group Lions Pride LGBT  Network and sponsors  include Cheshire West and  Chester Council, University  of Chester, Cheshire Fire and  Rescue Service, Cheshire  Constabulary, Cheshire and  Wirral Partnership NHS  Foundation Trust, Body  Positive Cheshire and North  Wales, Rosies and the LA  pub.

Equalities and diversity  champion Councillor Razia  Daniels said: “This exciting  event will, I am sure, be very  successful.

“This will be the first time  that a large scale Pride event  has been held in the city and  I urge everyone to come  along and join in the  celebrations.”
