Traffic lights at the Posthouse Roundabout had stopped working.

The lights at a key artery route into Chester were off for more than ten hours after a power failure at around 1am on Tuesday morning.

Following complaints by motorists Highways England have also altered the sequencing of the lights on the notorious roundabout.

A Highways England spokesman said: "The power came back on to the lights at 10.30am. In a separate issue following complaints about the sequencing of the lights we have listened and made improvements.

"Motorists should see the improvements from tomorrow (Wednesday December 2)."

Motorists have taken to social media over the issue.

@Gnomescout tweeted: “@wrexham @ChesterChron Traffic lights from Chester to A483 still not working on posthouse roundabout. TAKE CARE.”

@Cadisbikes said: “Lights are still out on posthouse r/bout #Chester @wrexham - should be fun later!!”
