Delays were reported this morning (Saturday, February 21) following a possible serious accident involving a lorry, a car and fuel spillage on the eastbound carriageway of the M56 near Chester.

North West Motorway Police tweeted at 11.16am on Saturday February 21 that the collision had occurred between junction 14 at Hapsford and junction12 near Frodsham, with lanes one and two closed but three still open.

They tweeted: "The RTC M56 J14/12 EB, we have lanes 1 and 2 closed. 3 is open. Delays in area."

Cheshire Police also tweeted: "Police patrols on way to deal with accident possible serious accident between jct 14 and jct 12 m56 eastbound"
