STAFF at a newsagents were injured by robbers.

The raiders grappled with workers at the shop on Stanley Road, Ellesmere Port, before stealing takings at 1.20pm on Monday, September 19.

Cheshire police spokesman Jon Ratcliffe said: 'The men went behind the counter and threatened two members of staff with a stool they'd just picked up. One grabbed the electronic till, then struck a staff member who'd tried to intervene.

'They dropped the till, grabbed the cash inside and escaped in an L-reg silver Ford estate, which had been stolen from Bache Railway Station that morning.

'After the robbery, the car was found burned out near the infant school on New School Lane, Childer Thornton. A small black car was seen leaving that area.

'The shop staff were shocked by these events and received minor injuries.'

The first robber was white, aged 25-26, 5ft 6-8ins tall, of medium build, in a short blue jacket with white letters on the chest, a light blue round-necked top with horizontal stripes, black trousers and a white baseball cap.

The other was white, aged 25 or 26, 5ft 8-9ins tall, of medium build, in a white jacket and beige baseball cap.
