Police searched the River Dee after reports of two men in the water.

At just before 1am on Saturday, October 12, emergency  services were called to the banks of the River Dee off the A55 in Eccleston after reports of  people in the water.

Police pulled an injured man from the water,  before searching for a second man just off the  banks of the river.

Fire crews from Ellesmere Port joined the  Water Incident Unit from Chester and the  rapid response unit from Knutsford to assist  police in the search for the missing person.

Firefighters set up lighting and  launched the  rescue boat, while police searched the water  for the casualty.

Following an extensive search police confirmed that the area was clear and that the  second man was not in the water.
