POLICE investigating the death of a man on an Ellesmere Port rail line are appealing for help with locating his relatives.

Officers have failed to trace family members of Anthony George William Gaylard, whose body was found on the tracks at Overpool Station.

He died after being struck by the Ellesmere Port-Birkenhead train on Friday, November 17.

British Transport Police are investigating the circumstances of his death and have called on the public to help.

BTP spokesman Jon Ratcliffe said: 'Mr Gaylard, who was aged 53 and of no fixed abode, is thought to have resided in the Liverpool area.

'Anyone with information should contact Sgt Carol O'Brien on 0800 405040.'

'We are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and will now prepare a file for the Cheshire coroner.

'The incident is not being treated as suspicious.'
