Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Frodsham.

The 30-year-old victim had just collected a meal from a takeaway when he was attacked by three or four men in an alleyway behind the Queen’s Head pub on Main Street at around 7.40pm on Saturday (February 7).

PC Dave Walton, of Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “The man, who received minor injuries, was set upon in an unprovoked attack by three or four males who had been hanging around the area.

“It is thought that their intentions were to steal from the man who fought back, meaning they left empty-handed and with one of the attackers receiving injuries.”

The group were seen fleeing the scene in the direction of Church Street.

Police enquiries are ongoing and CCTV is being reviewed.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact PC Graves on 101, quoting incident number 737 of February 8, 2015.
