FRODSHAM Carnival is to undergo a transformation.

Organisers have renamed the traditional annual event Frodsham Community Festival - and they are urging residents and sponsors to get involved and support this year's celebration.

A provisional programme for Festival Week, between September 3-8, includes family film shows; prize bingo; team quiz; cabaret concert; funfair; downhill run and games on the community centre field.

Festival committee chairman Michael Miles said the team was encouraged by the response so far from companies including: Rock-savage Power Co Ltd; earthBorne Paints; Marley Eternit; Frodsham Life; Forest Hills Hotel; Dormex Containers; Frodsham Town Council; Vale Royal Borough Council; Frodsham Community Association; Presentations; Kestrel Images; Helsby Running Club and Frodsham Film Society.

The National Trust has also offered sponsorship, along with LA Bowl; Tatton Park; Burger King; Tesco Helsby and Ellesmere Port Boat Museum.

Mr Miles said: 'The festival provides a springboard to bring Frodsham people together to celebrate the wealth of talent in the town and surrounding areas, and the committee would like to hear from anyone who would like to be involved.'
