What have the Romans ever done for us?  Well, they certainly brought an afternoon of sunshine to Chester's Roodee for the first time this race season.

Centurions and charioteers conquered Chester Racecourse on Saturday, May 31, for the city's popular annual Roman Day.

After a half term of rain and grey clouds, crowds took advantage of the sun and packed picnics to enjoy Roman re-enactments, chariot races and all the fun of the fair alongside the day’s racing.
