YOU don't usually associate February with clear blue skies, glorious sunshine and a pleasant 17 degrees.

Yet walking round Chester this lunchtime you would be forgiven in thinking that it was mid springtime.

City workers taking their lunch breaks welcomed the milder temperatures and many opted for lunch in the cathedral grounds or benches near the town hall.

Others decided to make the most of the unseasonal weather and dine al-fresco - although not taking the risk and choosing to keep their winter coats on as the breeze in the shade proved it was still, in actual fact, winter.

According to Chesterweather.org.uk the temperature at lunchtime reached 17.6 degrees in Chester city centre, a dramatic change to a week ago when rain battered the city.
