Pancake fans had a flippin’ good day on Tuesday.

Reception class pupils at Tarporley CE Primary School celebrated Shrove Tuesday, Tuesday, March 4, in style by learning about Lent and discussing what they might give up for the next 40 days.

This was followed by a fun afternoon making delicious Scotch pancakes before a traditional pancake race in the playing field.

Thanks to everyone on social media who shared their good, bad (and ugly!) creations, which we have included in our gallery.

Karen White, of Hoole, tweeted photos her three daughters Alexandra, Elizabeth and Amelia all tucking in.  Meanwhile 13-year-old Jake Dwyer looked confident in the kitchen preparing pancakes for his family.  Shannon Farrell, 11, of Huntington, tempted us with her chocolate topping and Sonia Cole made us laugh on Facebook with her odd-shaped creation.

And here are Jon Dytor and Chronicle reporter Rachel Flint showing us all how (or how not) to toss a pancake!
