The sun shone at last for the final day of the Boodles May Festival at Chester Racecourse.

After an initial downpour, umbrellas were swapped for shades as racegoers enjoyed City Day.

Chronicle photographer Ian Cooper was out and about snapping those backing the runners and the riders, including former England footballer Michael Owen and his wife Louise.
