A person had to be airlifted to hospital in Ellesmere Port this morning (June 4).

The air ambulance landed on one of the fields at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School.

Staff sent a text message to students' parents and guardians reassuring them that the incident was not related to the school and that all pupils were safe.

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We got a call to a private address on Capenhurst Lane at 10.26am.

"The air ambulance attended and they took someone to hospital."
