PERMISSION was refused for a two storey extension to a detached suburban property.

The application was put forward at the side and rear of Mulberry House, 1 Norton Road, Vicars Cross by Mr M J Jones.

The white painted house with a slate roof is screened from Vicars Cross Road by 4m high hedging, according to a report.

There is a 2m high brick wall along Norton Road.

No representations were made by Great Boughton Parish Council or by neighbours.

The house has an individual style according to planning officers at Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Two storey and single storey extensions had permission in 2006 but only the single storey extension had been built.

The proposed two storey new build was similar to that proposed in an earlier application in 2004 and would involve demolition work, said planners.

It would lead to a large expanse of building but would not detract from the overall character of the area.

Planners believed the new build would affect the windows of rooms next door.
