Hammond School students in Chester are celebrating another year of 100% pass rate at A level.
Special mention must be made of musical theatre student Jordan Li-Smith, who has gained an A star in music, together with a B in drama and theatre studies.
The Hammond is particularly delighted with the students’ success because they work in a busy, tiring environment where time is at a premium.
Many students are working towards the National Diploma (level 6) in dance or musical theatre and the remainder are studying, alongside their A levels, BTEC (level 3) in performing arts (acting).
Results in this latter course have also this year been excellent, with all the students gaining awards at distinction or merit level.
In addition, the drama department is delighted with the success of Winnie Southgate.
Alongside her A level studies in English literature, Winnie has been awarded a starred distinction, with distinction, in the BTEC Performing Arts (Acting) two year course.
Principal Maggie Evans praised the hard work of students, many of who will be returning to The Hammond in September to continue their studies towards the national diploma in professional dance or musical theatre.
She said: “These results reflect the commitment of our staff and students. Congratulations and well done to all.”
