Seven people and two dogs had to be rescued after a blaze broke out in the hallway of flats in Neston on Saturday night (February 7).

Firefighters were called to the building on High Street at 11.11pm.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was in the access hallway of the three storey flats and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.”

Fire engines from Chester, Ellesmere Port and Merseyside attended the incident.
