An 87-year-old man is in a 'serious' condition in hospital following a collision on a petrol station forecourt in Chester.

All three emergency services including the police helicopter were called to the Esso filling station on Parkgate Road just after 12.30pm today (Tuesday April 21) after reports a grey Honda Jazz had been the sole vehicle in a collision on the forecourt.

The elderly driver, from Heswall, was treated at the scene before being taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital by ambulance where his condition is believed to be serious.

His wife, who was a passenger in the car, was uninjured.
