DETECTIVES are hunting a distraction burglar who may have struck a second time at the home of a Widnes pensioner.

An 84-year-old man on Dixon Road was visited at home by someone posing as a builder at 10.30am on December 9.

The caller told the pensioner he had information about a previous distraction burglary at his home on October 24

The elderly man walked out into the street to inspect some roadworks, leaving the offender at the door.

As he returned the offender got into a white unmarked Ford Transit van and drove off.

After he had gone the pensioner realised his wallet and cash had been taken.

The man was white, aged 25-30, approximately 6ft 5ins tall, had dark short hair and 'youthful features'.

He wore a yellow high visibility jacket and black trousers.
