A lettings manager from Chester got in the saddle for charity.

Kevin McIntosh, of Humphreys of Chester, organised a 12-hour static cycle ride on Eastgate Street in aid of Claire House Children’s hospice.

The cycle challenge started on Thursday, December 19 at 10am, and by the time it finished at 10pm Kevin had managed to raise £1,426.

Speaking of the difficult challenge, Kevin said: “It was really one of the hardest challenges that I have ever done.”

“The last two hours were the toughest but I kept thinking that if the kids and families can go through what they do at the hospice, then I can do this challenge.”

Kevin was supported by local Cestrians and visitors outside of Chester, who were out in force to do some Christmas shopping.

“The support from the people of Chester was amazing and at the same time very humbling,” Kevin said.

“There was a variety of people and age groups putting their change and even notes in the buckets.”

“From kids walking home from school right through to two homeless men putting their last change in and telling me that our need was greater than their own.”

Humphreys of Chester will continue to raise money for Claire House throughout 2014, with plans already for staff to take part in the Chester Triathlon and other local sporting events.
