A COMMUNITY combined summer celebrations with publishing its hopes for the next five years.

The parish plan - involving 18 months' work by Tiverton and Tilstone Fearnall Parish Council and the communities in both villages - was presented to Eddisbury MP Stephen O'Brien at Tiverton village day.

Mr O'Brien opened the event, which was held on Deeside Ramblers Hockey Ground. It included a display by the Allsorts dog training club, tours of a fire engine, Victorian swing boats, face painting, skittles, fun stalls and a barbecue.

Parish council chairman and chairman of the parish plan steering committee Liz Scott said:'We used the day to launch our parish plan.

'The full document can also be seen on our website www.tiverton-cheshire.org.uk.

'The plan will drive what we as a parish council do in the next five years and will also encourage and support more community activities such as an environmental projects.'

Cllr Scott said the parish had already received further funding of £1,500 from Cheshire County Council to develop and promote the plan.

The original project was funded by the Countryside Agency.

'This was an important day for us as a village as it is one of the few opportunities we have to get together, young and old,' added Cllr Scott.

There was the added importance of the publication of the parish plan.

The parish plan steering committee says the plan is a statement of what Tiverton and Tilstone Fearnall parish is about and what people would like to see in the future.

Researching and presenting a local history day held in March 2004 provided an opportunity for people to see how the parish had changed.

'We have to accept that change is inevitable, but part of the task is ensuring it is for the better,' said the committee.

Promoting the plan will be the role of the parish council, which has given its backing although the committee says that to succeed, there will also need to be support from the community.

Copies of the plan are to be distributed in the villages and to organisations like the Cheshire Count and Chester City Council.
