The parents of a brave Northwich toddler who may only have a few months to live are ‘absolutely overwhelmed’ by the support they’ve received in helping to make her as many of her dreams come true as possible.

Amelia Hill was diagnosed with a rare heart condition within days of her birth in 2012.

At just two weeks old, she had her first heart surgery and in January this year she underwent open heart surgery in an attempt to correct the problem.

But Amelia’s health deteriorated and in early July, her parents Andy and Zoe received the devastating news that her condition was inoperable and there was nothing more doctors could do.

Since then, family, friends and strangers have rallied to raise money to send the youngster to Peppa Pig World in Hampshire and Disneyland Paris.

Doctors say Amelias heart condition is inoperable

Ten thousand pounds has flooded in so far, thanks to events including raffles, a sprint challenge and quiz night.

Andy, 25, said: “What we’ve done on the back of being told she was terminally ill is decide that we want to do as many fun things as  possible.

“Amelia’s a really bubbly, open person. From the outside, you wouldn’t know she was ill. She just looks like a normal, healthy child.

“We’re absolutely overwhelmed and so grateful for everybody’s kindness and generosity in trying to make this a special time for  us.”

A group of Zoe’s colleagues from Waitrose Northwich held a surprise ‘life celebration’ party for the family on Monday (July 28) at Pryors Hayes Golf Club, incorporating such favourites of Amelia’s as Finding Nemo, Eddie Stobart and 101 Dalmatians.

One of the party organisers Vickie Griffin said: “It was wonderful to see everyone pull out all the stops and come together to make the day as amazing as could  be.

“The party itself was a huge  success - Andy and Zoe had no idea what we had in store for them and Amelia, and were completely stunned when they arrived! They called it the party of a lifetime!”

Andy has played for Chester Gladiators since 2009 and on Sunday (July 27), the rugby league club staged a fun day and touch rugby tournament, which raised more than £2,000.

Chester Gladiators chairman Jim Green said: "It was a wonderful afternoon.

“We raised far more than we could have ever anticipated and it was a privilege to be surrounded by so many generous, kind-hearted and caring people.”
