SHOPPERS at a Crewe supermarket tested their Shrove Tuesday pancake-tossing skills against firefighters yesterday.
Officers from Crewe's Community Fire Safety team were at Asda in the Victoria Centre offering home fire safety advice whilst staff at the store were giving out fun ideas for Pancake Day.
Shoppers joined managers and staff to pit their skills against firefighters.
Those who volunteered for the pancake-tossing contest also signed up for a free home safety fire check. Prizes were awarded to members of the public who managed to beat officers from Crewe's Red Watch.
Community safety advisor Geraldine Corbett said everyone had lots of fun whilst learning about important safety tips at the same time.
She added: 'It was a fun day organised between the fire service and Asda in Crewe.
'We spent the day at the store generating requests for safety checks which means officers go in to people's homes free of charge and fit optical smoke alarms that have a 10-year battery.
'I am amazed at the response. We have had about 200 people sign up. It has been a huge success.'
