A FESTIVAL is tuning up with a series of charity gigs.

Oxjam Chester takes place on Sunday, October 25, when the city will be taken over by more than 50 bands helping to raise money for charity.

As part of the build-up to the event there will be a live gig at the Oxfam store in Bridge Street tomorrow (Friday).

Dayve Dean, from Crewe, will be performing in the window of the city centre store.

Oxjam Chester spokeswoman Sara Wheater said: “We will also have a stall outside the town hall on Sunday from 10am.”

Event organisers are also celebrating after securing the support of Aziz Ibrahim – former guitarist with Simply Red and the Stone Roses.

Aziz will perform at three venues, an acoustic solo set at Bar Lounge and as a guest with The Kayas at the Frog and Nightingale and The Logicals at RBs on Sunday, October 25.

Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long music festival with a difference. Each year hundreds of music-lovers across the UK get involved to raise money for the charity by holding their own events which help tackle worldwide poverty.

The Chester event will include Mark Morriss from The Bluetones performing at Alexander’s and a DJ set from Rhys and Eggsy of Goldie Lookin’ Chain at RB’s.

Wristbands for the event, at £10, £8 NUS, are now on sale and will allow entry to all of the venues. They can be bought at www.WeGotTickets.com.
