Cheshire’s Oulton Park is launching Easter Funday on Bank Holiday Monday, March 28 as an all-new family-friendly start to another busy season of major events, combining high-energy racing on the track, with a village fete atmosphere off it.

This exciting addition to the calendar will focus as much on the off-track show as the racing, with particular highlights including a Big Top show tent, which will host an assortment of children’s entertainers and live music.

There will be a special showground area too, featuring a medieval jousting display, village games and plenty of other outdoor activities.

There will also be a mega Easter Egg Hunt so children are advised to keep their eyes peeled around the venue at all times. Other off-track highlights will include a funfair and vehicle displays, including supercars and military vehicles, ensuring that there will be plenty to enjoy for both the young and the young-at-heart.

Behind the wheel

There will be opportunities for visitors to get behind the wheel too, with off-road MudMaster and RallyMaster driving sessions available on the day.

MudMaster allows participants to test the mettle of the iconic Land Rover Defender, whilst RallyMaster puts you behind the wheel of a fully stage prepared Toyota GT86. And 11-17-year-olds can try their hand at a spot of underage driving too, with YoungDrive!, MSV’s renowned MINI driving school for teenagers.

The on-track programme will be headlined by demonstrations from Benetton 190 and 193 Grand Prix cars, as driven in the Formula One World Championship by Nelson Piquet and Michael Schumacher respectively.

The race programme, organised by MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), will include action from the VAG Trophy, a one-make touring car series for cars from the Volkswagen Group, the BRSCC XR Challenge for retro Ford cars, and the eclectic Northern Saloons and Sports Cars series. The Monoposto Championship will add single-seaters to the programme and all races will take place on the rarely-used Fosters circuit to add a bit of variety for the fans.

New major event

Circuit manager Simon Bonser said: “With our traditional Easter British GT meeting moving later in the year, there was an opportunity to create a brand new major event on the Bank Holiday Monday and I’m delighted to unveil our inaugural Easter Funday, which combines motor racing with a huge number of displays and activities on the infield of the circuit. And with lots of Easter surprises in store, it should be a ‘cracking’ day out for all the family!”

This will be the first major event of an Oulton Park season which will include rounds of the British Touring Car Championship, MCE British Superbike Championship and British GT Championship - which switches to the end of May Bank Holiday weekend.
