ORGANISERS are revamping plans for this year’s Cuddington Summer Gala.

In previous years, the popular event has been dominated by five-a-side football but local residents are upping their game to involve the entire community this time.

Following the opening of the new Village Hall, Norley Road, members of Cuddington Gala committee are determined to continue celebrations with an African-themed gala and full programme of activities to mark the start of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

A committee spokesman said: “It seemed appropriate when the new hall opened to return the annual village gala to its former glory so a meeting was held and a committee formed.

“The intention is to bring the village community together for the biggest and best gala yet.”

The football tournament, comprising ten teams, will return (kick-off 10.30am) while the gala’s official opening is at noon this Saturday.

Attractions include a climbing wall, catapult shooting range, bouncy castle, pony rides, handicrafts, children’s races, games and stalls, as well as three bands providing live music. The gala is expected to finish at 4pm.
