OLYMPIC superstar Beth Tweddle looked every bit the Bond girl at the gala premiere of Skyfall in Chester last week.

With her very own 007, boyfriend Steve Cryer, the Olympic bronze medallist joined other VIP guests including Granada TV’s Lucy Meacock and stars of Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks at Cineworld in Sealand Road for a charity screening of the box-office smash.

Invited Chester-born film star Daniel Craig was unable to make the advance screening of his latest James Bond film last Thursday.

Cineworld was one of a few cinemas in the UK to show the film before its general release, requiring special permission and security measures.

Guests at the VIP event were treated to glamorous cars, champagne and entertainment before settling down to watch the film. Guests were then chauffeured to Cruise in St John Street for an after-show party.

Jane Harrad-Roberts, managing director of Marketing Projects, which organised the event, said: “We aimed to treat everyone who came as stars for the night with the VIP red carpet experience and ‘Oscar bags’ at the end of the screening. Chester can do glamour and excitement just as well as Hollywood.”

The event raised more than £1,000 for charity.

Speaking on behalf of recipients NSPCC and ChildLine, Helen Gazzola said: “Thanks so much to everyone for their support last week. We raised more than £1,000, which means we are able to answer an extra 250 calls to ChildLine in the North West as a result of the evening.”
