A VILLAGE school has improved, Ofsted found.

Inspectors reached their conclusion after a two day visit to Huntington Community Primary School on Butterbache Road, Huntington.

They described the smaller than average primary school as ‘good’ compared with ‘satisfactory’ at a 2010 inspection.

The school has 218 pupils aged 3 to 11.

Lead inspector Martin Pye says the inspectors saw 15 lessons, visited school assemblies and after school clubs, observed break times and listened to pupils reading.

Most teaching at the school is good and some is outstanding, according to the inspectors' report. Since the previous inspection, standards have risen.

Changes have been made helping teachers plan lessons that push pupils to make faster progress particularly in their maths and written work.

Pupils enjoy going to the school and attendance is high.
